Existential Crisis


   You were returning home from class at uni to your shared flat. You live with your best friends Dan Howell and Phil Lester. All you could think about on your trip home was how come Dan wasn't at class today. You understood why when you opened the door to the flat. There lies Dan curled in the fetal position mumbling something about people dying and nothing you can do about it.
   Phil pulled you into the kitchen the second you closed the door. Phil looked very worried. You were very confused why there was a nonfunctional Dan in the living room and a very worried Phil in the kitchen. You finally asked Phil "what's wrong with Dan?"
   Phil sighed and responded with "He came out to me this morning and told me he felt like he wasn't going anywhere in life. He said that he didn't enjoy studying law. Then he went into a very depressed state and curled up on the floor and hasn't moved since. I'm quite worried about him. There must be something you can do to make him feel better."
   Your eyes widen. "ME? You're the one who has known him the longest."
   Phil says "(y/n), you and Dan have a special bond that may hold a way to break his trance."
   You look at him and sigh knowing he is right. You turn and walk back into the living room. You stare at Dan for a few moments. It pains you to see your best friend in so much pain. It doesn't help that you have a crush on him. You walk up beside him and sit crisscross applesauce next to him.
   You stroke his hair whispering "shhhh" to him. He stops mumbling, but doesn't acknowledge your presence. You both just sit there for a bit with you stroking his hair. It clicks in your head then what's happening to Dan. You realize he is having an existential crisis. You've had them before and know how horrible they can be.
   Dan finally acknowledges you by looking up into your eyes. You look down into his. Both of you are thinking about how you could just get lost in each other's eyes. Neither of you knew that you both felt this way. Even with both your eyes locked on his you know there's s blush on your cheeks. You see the blush growing on his cheeks too.
   You speak up though your voice is barely above a whisper, "Dan it'll be okay. You have Phil and me. We're not going anywhere. We love you Dan. I love you." Your whole face is burning red when you say that.
Dan doesn't say anything, but he brings his lips to yours for a few seconds. Though the kiss didn't last long it said everything that went unspoken. He was telling you that he felt the same.
   Both of you knew that you or him were bound to have another existential crisis, but you also knew you have each other to help you along the way. Phil walked into the living room smiling so wide. He chants like a little boy, "I knew you liked each other!"
